An Experience I Will Never Forget
My name is Luke Markey and I’m a VISTA serving with ARF this year. I had the incredible opportunity to serve as a chaperone at our recent Spring Break camp, and it was an experience I will never forget. From the moment the campers arrived, there was an undeniable sense of excitement and anticipation in the air.
Throughout the two-day camp, I witnessed our campers embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth. From conquering towering rock walls to mastering the art of campfire cooking, each activity presented its own set of new experiences and challenges, which our campers met head-on with unwavering determination and enthusiasm.
The support among the campers was truly inspiring to witness. Together, they encouraged one another to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new experiences with open arms. It was a testament to the power an opportunity like this can have on individual growth and development.
These opportunities are so important for all our youth. While many families can afford spring break trips and experiences, there is a considerable amount of children in Austin who do not have those opportunities. In some cases, they are left at home without supervision. ARF strives to eliminate those situations for our partnership schools.
