Boys and Girls Clubs of the Austin Area is a non-profit organization in Austin, TX. Our mission is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible leaders of the future.

Position Summary: Youth Development Professional (YDP), is the backbone of our mission. As a YDP you will be interacting with the youth in our program each day, supporting their development and exhibiting a role model person. A tremendous opportunity to gain insight into the children's development and behavior, as well as classroom and education experience. Your goal is to “be somebody, to somebody”.

Responsibilities:

Teach and model professional and upstanding behavior.

Encourage and support the development of social skills, self-esteem, and character building.

Assist with homework during daily “Power Hour”

Prepare materials for programming.

Lead activities and programs that promote learning, creativity, and personal growth.

Enforce organization rules and policies.

Additional Responsibilities:

Check in/out youth attending Club activities.

Take daily attendance and maintain records.

Supervise youth in various environments including classrooms, cafeterias, playgrounds, gymnasiums, and on field trips.

Prepare and serve preplanned meals and snacks according to guidelines.

Maintain contact with external community groups, school administration, members’ parents, and others.

Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent

Pass criminal background and reference check.

Maintain professional "role model" persona.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's level degree or higher in education or another related field.

Strong communication skills to interact with children, parents, and staff members.

Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices.

Ability to adapt to the needs of individual children and create a supportive environment.

Previous experience working with children or youth in a professional setting (e.g. Christian counseling, babysitting, early childhood education, sports coaching, tutoring, daycare).

Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in the well-being of children

Spanish or other second language

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay: $16.00 per hour
