An ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of Boys & Girls Club management experience, or in a similar youth development program. They should be highly organized and detail oriented, able to effectively communicate and work well with others in a team capacity, work with a sense of urgency, especially under pressure and tight deadlines, and be ready to roll up their sleeves and jump in when needed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum of three years previous management experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
Ability to communicate ideas effectively to the public.
Ability to deal effectively with members in all types of situations, including discipline problems.
Demonstrated ability in working with colleagues, youth, parents, and community leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work in various weather conditions—hot, cold, rainy, etc.
Ability to meet the physical demands of working with children.
Ability to move equipment up to 25 pounds.
Summary
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Leadership
Directs the club-wide operations at assigned locations/programs. Plans, develops, oversees implementation and supervises programs and program staff, and performs related administrative duties.
Plans and oversees the administration of club-wide programs and activities that support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Youth Development Strategy:
Implement objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in the program area(s).
Oversees provision of guidance services to members to assist them in fulfilling and making appropriate choices in educational, personal, physical, social, emotional, vocational and spiritual needs.
Demonstrates leadership to assure the safety and development of members.
Monitor and review organization-wide program goals monthly (outcomes and outputs) to ensure compliance and organizational success.
Ensure that site staff understands and effectively communicate standards of the program.
Attend regular management meetings
Strategic Planning
Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities
Respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
Ensure compliance with organizations expectations including but not limited to reporting, assessments, and evaluations.
Resource Management
Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Club’s annual budget, ensuring that club-wide programs and activities are operated within established budgetary guidelines.
Create budgets aligned with individual grants
Recruit, select and manage assigned staff, ensuring productive and effective performance. Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations; identify and support professional development opportunities.
Oversees proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
Administer, review and monitor grant awards as directed.
Complete and submit grant reports as directed.
Marketing and Public Relations
Increase visibility of Club development activities and maintain good public relations within the Club and the community.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Valid state CDL driver’s license required at designated sites or a valid state driver’s license at all sites.
May be required to drive a shuttle bus.
Be able to perform other duties as assigned or requested by supervisor(s).
Director of Club Operations that supervise sites that provide transportation from a site or school to their Club daily will be required to obtain a Commercial Drivers’ License with an air brake endorsement.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain daily contact with the Chief Program Services Officer, colleagues, and/or volunteers for the purpose of exchange of information, to interpret or explain the current organization’s mission, discuss current program objectives and standards to be met, discuss any other relevant issues, and provide and/or receive information.
External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, parents, and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize the Club.
