School Program Instructor, Joshua’s Stage

Job Description

Joshua’s Stage is the premiere enrichment program for individuals with a wide range of special needs featuring after-school programs, camps, workshops, individual enrichment programs, online programs, and performances in theater arts, improv, music, dance, arts and crafts, photography, create-a-story, and showcase. We are currently seeking to fill an Instructor position for our after-school program. The staff member must be able to maintain and demonstrate self-awareness and self-regulation, while practicing patience and compassion with the children. The staff member must be reliable.

Key Responsibilities of the Position

  • Implement activities

  • Manage and support participants during activities utilizing positive behavior supports

  • Develop positive relationships with participants, parents, and other stakeholders

  • Establish and maintain a warm and welcoming environment

  • Adjust activities during the program as needed to accommodate the interest level of the participants

  • Maintain a participant-focused approach during activities

  • Actively monitor participants during activities including outdoor activities

  • Engage in conversations with staff to determine enhancements to activities

  • Responsible for ensuring that all program-related paperwork is current, accurate, and submitted in a timely fashion.

  • Adhere to policies and procedures in a proactive manner, making the safety and care of children your primary focus

  • Actively participate in all aspects of staff development, including team meetings, pre-service trainings, and at least an additional 15 hours of training during the school year

  • Assist in special projects and activities as required by the supervisor

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Experience working with children is a must, and experience working with children with special needs is desired

  • Behavior Management Certification is desired

  • Background in the arts is desired

  • Must be available on Mondays through Thursdays, 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Hours and Compensation

  • $1,063 a month
