Position Overview
General Purpose:
To manage the day-to-day operations of the ACE afterschool program at an assigned school campus.
To support the goals of the assigned campus/department by supplementing academic and social-emotional needs.
To provide a safe and supportive environment for students outside of school hours.
Typical Responsibilities:
Program Coordination & Implementation:
Plan, develop, and implement a variety of activities in the four ACE component areas: academic assistance, academic enrichment, college and career readiness, and family engagement.
Ensure the delivery of supplemental support in reading and math.
Coordinate with program partners to deliver specific activities (e.g., writing, science, arts, sports, etc.).
Lead the refinement of the program's online platforms (e.g., Canvas) and implement best practices.
Site Management:
Oversee the daily operations of the ACE program at the school site.
Manage student enrollment, attendance, and behavior issues.
Ensure the upkeep of program property and equipment.
Implement safety and discipline guidelines.
Supervision & Collaboration:
May supervise part-time program staff and volunteers.
Work closely with school leadership and staff to align program goals with campus needs.
Collaborate with the Texas ACE Assistant Director and Project Assistant Director on program operations and record-keeping.
Build effective partnerships with school faculty and community resources.
Communication & Reporting:
Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and program administrators.
Maintain organized and accurate records.
Prepare and submit necessary data for state and federal reports.
Keep supervisors informed of daily progress and any issues.
Professional Development:
Attend required meetings, training, and other events.
Maintain a working knowledge of district and program policies and procedures.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Recreation, or a related field.
Experience:
Experience working with youth, especially "at-risk" youth, is preferred.
Experience in afterschool programs or non-profit organizations can be beneficial.
Preferred, some experience supervising staff or volunteers.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills.
Excellent time management and leadership abilities.
Basic computer and software knowledge.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage student behavior effectively.
Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred in some cases).
Working Conditions (common elements):
Work may be indoors and outdoors.
Frequent contact with students, parents, and school staff.
Will involve some physical activity (walking, standing, lifting).
May require maintaining emotional control under stress and dealing with frequent interruptions.
Occasional travel between campus assignments or for training is necessary.
Must work some evenings and weekends to accommodate program activities.
General hours are from 10-6pm Monday through Friday, occasional weekends as needed.
197 day employee, summer work until mid-July is expected.
