Family Emergency Fund

Families supporting families.

The students and families the Foundation serves are greatly impacted during times of extreme difficulty or danger — the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and prolonged cold that have gripped our community. In the face of such crises, our students and families experience illness, loss of wages and childcare, inability to pay for basic needs, and lack tools for their children’s education and learning at a staggeringly higher rate than others.

As a result, the Foundation established a fund to ensure the basic and most urgent needs of our students and their families are met while also fulfilling our mission to provide students continuous learning outside the classroom. The Family Emergency Fund supports students and families with the greatest need in our community — those who are hit the hardest by community crisis.

Your gifts have helped:

  • Put fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy recipes in the kitchens of our families.

  • Provide food security and for other basic needs through pre-paid debit and gift cards.

  • Provide at-home learning tools and school supplies.

  • Put tablets in the hands of our students who would otherwise not be able to learn outside the classroom.

  • Put books in the hands of our students to help them retain their hard-earned reading skills.

  • Provide packs of Richard’s Rainwater.

  • Provide blankets, sleeping bags, and other items to stay safe and warm.

“As parents know, it’s hard to suddenly find yourself an at-home teacher but imagine if you also worked two or three jobs and still worried about putting food on the table.”

— Andy Roddick, Founder and Chair
